My Signature Byline & Mantra

Rev. Margo Ross

Mantras are a tool for self-awareness that brings Light to a thought pattern or event. I have many: "with grace & ease," the Reiki Ideals, "namaste" and "It's not about me" is a frequent one, too. But this one has stayed on my email signature for a LONG time: * I joyfully agree to show up, pay attention, tell the truth, do the work, and not get attached to the outcome! *

People comment on this line a lot. It means different things to different folks, of course, and I like hearing what that is or where it went.

A friend of mine once copied it for her ID verbiage on her chatroom account. But she didn't tell me she did that...I just noticed it. The ID changed to something else after a while...it changed as she did.

Another friend commented how it embodies her latest spiritual studies of being wholly present and confident without attachments or taking on other folks' stuff.

Still others have emailed me just to say how much they like it...simple clear, genuine, universal and positive.

Those reasons are why I liked it. I wish I knew who the author was...it is not mine. But I appreciate the gift it is and what it brings us.

So, what statement, idea, mantra, or belief keeps running through YOUR head? Something positive? Inspiring? or Fearful? Condemning? I used to have just plain ol' "Dummy" in my head all the time. I didn't even realize that thought was there so much until I was an adult and got objectively introspective. Now, if it vaguely wanders in, I don't freak out...I laugh at it and replace it with good mantras.

Consider noticing what's in your head and tuning it up to what is healthiest for you. Keep it simple...keep it natural. Try a few different ones. Write it down. Post it somewhere at home, school, or work. And when you find yours, add it to your signature and let others benefit from it, too. *pssst!* It's ok to change it as often as you like!

Namaste and much love to you, my friend!
