DEGREES OF USUI REIKI

The three degrees of Usui Reiki are called First (I), Second (II), and Third Degree (Master and Master Teacher). The degrees define what level of skill a practitioner has. Each degree level requires specific attunement procedures and instructions for new skills. At each degree level completion, the practitioner becomes certified at that degree.

The first three degrees of I, II, & Master receive various healing skill attunements. Only the last level, Master Teacher, also learn to pass attunements to others, as well as master level healing and related skills.

All levels of practitioners pass universal life force energy via their hands. We generally do so by placing our hands in the aura or on the client's body, as appropriate. Along with the standardized pattern of hand positions, some healers may also go elsewhere, such as an injured area or by client's request. Margo Sensei encourages her students to send Reiki to wherever they feel guided, within ethics.

Usui Reiki I

Prerequisite: none, minimum age 12 preferred
The physical aspects of Reiki are learned. After attunement, a practitioner can send healing energy via contact ("hands on"). First degree should also receive instructions on standard hand positions, chakras, basic procedures, Reiki history, ethics & legal limits, and the inherent effects on the practitioner. Practicing the new skill with teacher guidance is highly recommended.

Usui Reiki II

Prerequisite: certified Reiki I
The metaphysical aspects of Reiki are learned. After attunement, in addition to contact healing, the practitioner can also send it long distance through space and time. Instruction includes learning to draw and use the first 3 sacred Reiki power symbols. Meditation and chakra integration techniques are also learned. Practice of new skills & meditation with teacher guidance is highly recommended.

Usui Reiki III (Master)

Prerequisite: certified Reiki I & II, minimum age 18 preferred
After attunement, a healer's first and second degree skills are enhanced, an additional sacred power symbol is gained, plus two "heavy-duty" Master clearing and healing techniques are learned. Instruction includes additional healing techniques of Reiki, the Way of the Reiki Master, advanced meditation techniques, traditional Japanese Reiki, philosophies, and deep self-healing processes occur as well. A higher sense of spirituality is acquired as well. Practicing new skills & meditations with teacher guidance is recommended.

Usui Reiki Master Teacher

Prerequisite: certified Reiki I, II, & complete ART
After attunement, Master Students learn two more sacred symbols, which enable the ability to pass Reiki attunements to others. They also learn teaching and instruction techniques and philosophies. Practicing new skills & attunements with teacher guidance is also recommended.
